2025-26 ESPN Points Fantasy Basketball Rankings

2025-26 ESPN Points Fantasy Basketball Rankings

In this article

These rankings are Breakout's end-of-season assessment of the 2025-26 season under ESPN's default head-to-head points system: an account of how each player should have been valued on draft night in October, had the full season been known in advance.

ESPN charges a point for every shot attempt, which makes it the one points format that prices efficiency directly.

How these rankings work

  • Rankings are based on stats through to the end of Week 22. Most fantasy leagues have already wrapped by this point, so the season's last three weeks don't factor into the rankings.

  • Scoring follows ESPN's default H2H settings: 1 point per point, 2 per made field goal and −1 per attempt, 1 per made free throw and −1 per attempt, 1 per made three, 1 per rebound, 2 per assist, 4 per steal, 4 per block, and −2 per turnover.

  • Efficiency is scored directly. The made-shot bonus and the attempt penalty cancel at exactly .500 from the field, so a sub-.500 shooter loses ground on every attempt before his points are counted, and 33 of the top 50 shot under .500. Across the top 50, the scoring line items account for 68.7% of all fantasy-point value, assists 11.1%, rebounds 7.0%, turnovers 5.3%, steals 4.9% and blocks 3.0%.

  • Elite per-game production with reduced availability is valued higher than mediocre production with maximum availability, even if the season totals add up to be the same. When a player is on IL, that roster spot is free for an active manager to stream value into.

  • Availability still matters. Players with multiple absences take a meaningful hit, and the size of that hit depends on the shape of their absences rather than the raw missed-game count. 10 games missed over one stint costs less than 10 games missed across B2B sets.

AVL is availability, the share of team games played. FP/G is ESPN fantasy points per game. PG RK is each player's rank by per-game value alone, so the gap between OVR RK and PG RK is the availability adjustment. CHG is the year-over-year change in end-of-season ESPN points rank, and "—" marks a player new to the ranked pool.

The top of the board

This is who led 2025-26 ESPN points performance. The number in brackets shows how many places each player rose or fell from their 2024-25 finish in this format.

1. Nikola Jokić — Jokić finished at 66.3 fantasy points per game, seven clear of Dončić and a class apart. His 12.6 rebounds and 10.6 assists are worth 33.8 points on their own, more than half his nightly total before a single basket. Denver has since added DeMar DeRozan, who takes on some of the creation load.

2. Luka Dončić (+50) — Dončić rose 50 places, mostly on health rather than improvement. ESPN charges him more than any other format: 4.0 turnovers at −2 is eight points a night, and .476 on 22.7 attempts leaves his field-goal line underwater. The Lakers have added Walker Kessler, which should help the assists.

3. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (−1) — Gilgeous-Alexander shot .553 from the field and .888 from the line. Add 2.1 turnovers and it is the cleanest high-usage profile on the board.

4. Tyrese Maxey (+18) — Two steals a night is eight fantasy points under ESPN's +4, close to 15% of Maxey's total. It has to carry him, because .461 on 21.9 attempts puts his field-goal line in the red. He now shares a floor with LeBron James, Jaylen Brown and Joel Embiid.

5. Victor Wembanyama (+1) — Wembanyama's 3.0 blocks are worth twelve points a night under ESPN's +4, half again what the next-best shot blocker earns. It still leaves him fifth, because blocks are 3.0% of total value in this format against 68.7% for the scoring line items. San Antonio has added creation and frontcourt support, and 79% availability leaves room in both health and rank.

6. Cade Cunningham (+1) — Cunningham's 9.9 assists amount to 19.8 points before any scoring, and even after his 3.7 turnovers cost 7.4 the playmaking pair nets him twelve. Detroit added shooting rather than another initiator, so the creation load stays with him. The assists look repeatable.

7. Jalen Johnson (+43) — Johnson's 10.4 rebounds and 8.0 assists are worth 26.4 fantasy points before his scoring, which is what separates him from wings putting up similar point totals. The full-season line hides a weaker second half after CJ McCollum arrived in the Trae Young trade, and McCollum returns next season. The breakout was real, but the usage behind this rank is unlikely to return in full.

8. Donovan Mitchell (+22) — Mitchell paired 28.0 points and 3.3 threes with his best availability in several seasons at 87%. Cleveland added James Harden at the deadline and kept him for 2026-27, which should mean easier shots and less time on the ball.

9. Kawhi Leonard (+92) — Leonard is the largest riser in the top ten, taking the floor in 77% of games last season. His 2.1 turnovers tie Gilgeous-Alexander for the lowest in the top ten.

10. Jamal Murray (+13) — Murray played 93% of Denver's games, second only to Barnes in the top twelve. DeRozan's arrival cuts into the same creation pool Jokić gives up, so some regression could happen.

11. Anthony Edwards (+5) — Edwards posted the 11th-best per-game rate and finished 11th overall. His impact at the free throw line could be improved as his .796 on 7.4 trips costs about a point and a half a night.

12. Scottie Barnes (+15) — Barnes played 97% of Toronto's games, the best availability in the top twelve, and his 1.4 steals and 1.5 blocks are worth 11.6 points a night. Toronto still has Brandon Ingram, RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley, so there is little room for a usage jump.

Risers and fallers

The change column compares each player's finish with the prior season under the same ESPN model. A large move may reflect development, a new role or simply more games played.

Biggest risers

Player Chg Availability Driver
Jaylon Tyson +306 90% Expanded role
Ryan Rollins +304 97% Starting guard role
Reed Sheppard +293 100% Sophomore usage
Collin Gillespie +273 99% Rotation minutes and creation
Cam Spencer +270 96% Rotation breakthrough
Neemias Queta +233 94% Starting centre
Matas Buzelis +207 99% Sophomore leap
Sandro Mamukelashvili +197 97% Frontcourt rotation minutes

Buzelis, Jalen Johnson (+43), Deni Avdija (+54), Keyonte George (+63), Stephon Castle (+103) and Anthony Black (+137) improved inside larger roles and held the per-game gains.

Biggest fallers

Player Chg Availability
Domantas Sabonis -107 26%
Tyler Herro -89 34%
Jalen Williams -86 37%
Zach LaVine -85 54%
Cameron Johnson -71 64%
Anthony Davis -66 28%
Isaiah Hartenstein -60 55%
Franz Wagner -57 40%

Underlying decline: Myles Turner fell 56 places at 93% availability, so health explains none of it. His .442 shooting on 9.1 attempts leaves the field-goal line about a point underwater before his scoring lands, and 12.0 points with 5.3 rebounds is not enough volume around it. Tobias Harris (-48) is the same shape at 76%, shooting .459 on 10.5 attempts.

Health and production together: Jalen Williams (-86) played 37% of the schedule, but 17.5 points and 0.8 threes also fell short of his prior profile, so better availability alone will not restore the rank. Cameron Johnson (-71) has the broader problem at 64%: his per-game rate alone ranks outside the 150, so health is not what is holding him back.

The availability tax

These players produced at an elite per-game rate and finished well below it on games missed. The right column shows where the rate alone would have ranked.

Player FP/G Availability Actual finish Per-game rank
Giannis Antetokounmpo 49.4 51% 47 9th
Stephen Curry 43.8 55% 46 14th
Anthony Davis 43.5 28% 81 17th
Joel Embiid 42.8 46% 94 19th
Kevin Porter Jr. 42.1 54% 60 23rd
Lauri Markkanen 42.0 59% 56 24th
Tyler Herro 36.3 34% 115 51st
Jalen Williams 35.2 37% 104 60th
Domantas Sabonis 34.8 26% 118 64th

Giannis and Curry posted top-15 per-game rates and finished outside the top 45. Both will slide on 2026-27 boards because managers anchor on the finish rather than the rate, and a per-game top-15 talent in the sixth round is the largest expected-value gap on the board. It only works with the IL slots and the waiver activity to cover the weeks he misses.

Where this list can mislead

These rankings are descriptive rather than predictive. They record the ESPN fantasy points players banked in 2025-26, not what they will bank once roles, teams and health change. The availability adjustment can also overcorrect, since chronic recurring absences are a worse bet than the same games lost to one injury.

What this means for your 2026-27 draft

Last season's rank means less when the role or health outlook has changed.

Stable role and genuine growth: Cade Cunningham, Amen Thompson, Keyonte George and Matas Buzelis improved without losing the opportunities that produced it.

Breakout, but fewer touches ahead: Tyrese Maxey, Jalen Johnson and Jaylen Brown can each stay excellent while finishing below their 2025-26 ranks.

Scottie Barnes, Amen Thompson, Kevin Durant, Derrick White and Julius Randle all out-earned flashier teammates on games played alone.

Don't overvalue per-game production: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Stephen Curry and Anthony Davis should be priced according to how much injury risk a roster can absorb.

Injury discounts: a faller becomes good value only when the draft-day discount exceeds the expected value lost to the injury.
